About Us
Nick & Neda Welcome You to Tobermory, Ontario
Join us for a relaxing stay in our cozy, upscale guesthouse nestled amidst the natural wonders of Tobermory, a spectacular nature destination in the heart of Northern Ontario. We offer all the traditional warmth and charm of cottage country, with an exotic touch of Middle Eastern hospitality. You are invited to enjoy the natural beauty of Niagara Escarpment while being pampered in our high-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, Turkish cotton towels, memory foam and latex mattresses, and waking up to the aroma of coffee and homemade delights.
A short trip from the big city, nowhere near ordinary.
We would like to welcome you into our home. It took a few years to make our dream of opening a bed and breakfast into a reality. Now we're delighted to host you in our warm home and pamper you while you're reenergizing in this beautiful piece of heaven in the Northern Bruce Peninsula.
Combining our skills helped us to reach our vision. Neda's background in baking, photography, interior decorating, and retail customer service combined with Nick's background in carpentry and construction equiped us to undertake management, customer service, and maintenance.
In the meantime, our love of interacting with people, hosting them and sharing stories gives a soul to our business. We love the area so much that we would like to be ambassadors for it. Nothing will leave you feeling more relaxed than being one with Mother Nature.
Our Story
The Orange Bicycle Has Its Own Story!
Neda, who's originally from Tehran, Iran, had to sell her bicycle when she was 15. This was due to banning girls from riding bicycles after the Isalmic Revolution in Iran. After immigrating to Canada in early 1998, she purchased a second-hand bicycle in Kensington Market and a few months later, got a job as a bike courier in downtown Toronto. After Nick bought her another bike, it was time to retire her old bike, the Huffy. As a symbol of her first bike in her second hometown which had also been a source of income, Neda decided to keep it and planted it in their backyard. In the next house, the bike was eventually painted orange and moved to the front garden. When Nick and Neda moved to Tobermory, the orange bicycle went with them and was planted in the front garden right away!
As a couple, we love to travel, to meet new friends, to share cultural values, to respect our differences, to promote peace and love, and to laugh and not take ourselves too seriously. We love to share our beautiful home with you. Bringing one smile at a time to everyone's face is our mission.
Be happy,
N&N
Our Commitment to Sustainable Tourism
Orange Bicycle Guesthouse and Gardens has signed the Sustainable Tourism 2030 Pledge, to demonstrate our commitment to improving our sustainability score between now and 2030.
The UN World Tourism Organization defines sustainable tourism as "tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment and host communities." We are a very small business but we believe every small step counts. We believe hospitality is not a transaction, it's an invitation. We welcome every guest with an open arm. Our aim is to bring people together, listen to everyone's story and create a very inclusive space that everyone is welcome. Each year, we commit to measuring and improving our sustainability performance in the following ways:
● Continue to support local businesses by shopping locally
● Continue to support the community by volunteering
● Partner with local cultural and natural heritage organizations and sites to
promote the unique cultural and natural heritage of our destination
● Lead by example, encourage and increase awareness about sustainable tourism
● Measure our energy consumption and identify ways to improve our energy efficiency, lower costs, and reduce our carbon footprint
● Sign on to Tourism Declares and develop a Climate Action Plan
Some of the things that we have done in the last 10 years:
● Replacing plastic water bottle with a water cooler 2017
● New efficient window and doors 2016-2022
● Replacing battery operated of some of the maintenance equipment such as lawnmower and snowblower instead of gas 2024-2025
● Using some upcycle furniture for the 2nd location
Together we can build a healthier planet for next generations!
